The Godiva Festival, Coventry’s flagship event, comes to the War Memorial Park

July 26, 2021 By Coventry Talking Newspaper editor Leave a Comment

The Godiva Festival, Coventry’s flagship event, comes to the War Memorial Park on the 3-5 September this year, right in the middle of our year as City of Culture, with tickets on sale at 9 a.m. on Tuesday 27 July.
The immensely popular festival features top-name acts as well as local artists performing live music, as well as imaginative and engaging family-friendly entertainment.

There will be certain changes this year to protect the safety of everyone involved. Despite the fact that large-scale events are now permissible as a result of the current government announcement, we have opted to limit the capacity on site in order to provide ticketholders more space to enjoy the festival. Known precautions such as extra cleaning, hand sanitizer availability, and urging our audience to keep a safe distance in lines for toilets and bars will make everyone feel secure in Covid’s safety.

Customers must also check in with Test and Trace and follow any isolation instructions given to them, as well as continue to do frequent Lateral Flow Tests (LFT) and submit their results online.

On the festival’s website, www.godivafestival.com/covid, you may learn more about the festival’s Covid safety procedures.

Tickets will be available for purchase at www.godivafestival.com/buytickets beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, July 27. People are encouraged to book early to avoid disappointment, according to the organisers. Early Bird ticket prices are available till August 6th. These are the best-value tickets, and they are expected to sell out immediately. From the 6th of August to the 2nd of September, discounted advance tickets will be available until the 2nd of September, when on-the-day prices will apply as long as capacity permits. Please visit www.godivafestival.com/ticketprices for a complete list of ticket pricing.

Cllr Abdul Salam Khan, Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Events, said: “I’m really pleased that the latest change in Government guidelines has cleared the way for the  Godiva Festival to be held this year, something I know people in Coventry have been longing for.

“For many of us, Godiva is the crown jewel in our city’s event calendar and it will be the largest single event in our year as UK City of Culture.

“Ensuring that the festival is safe and secure has been at the forefront of our minds which is why we’ve made the decision to limit capacity each day and to introduce comprehensive safety measures across the board.

“If you are thinking of attending, please visit our website and read more about the measures being put in place. Everyone who attends will play their own part in adhering to the guidelines and messaging and ensuring that festival-goers’ look out for everybody’s safety over the weekend.

“I’ve been lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the programme and it looks like it will once again have something for everyone. I encourage everyone to join me in getting their tickets as soon as they go on sale.”

More than 70 musicians performed at the 2019 Godiva Festival, including notable names like Busted, Levellers, The Selecter, and Feeder. As in past years, the 2021 lineup will also serve as a platform for showcasing Coventry’s vast and broad range of creative talent.

Coventry City Council and Coventry City of Culture Trust collaborate to bring you Godiva Festival.
