Mobile COVID-19 testing unit to visit Coventry War Memorial Park and Coventry city centre

April 11, 2021 By Coventry Talking Newspaper editor Leave a Comment

In the coming days a mobile tester will visit two main city sites to assist still more people in the testing of COVID-19.

This weekend (10/11 April) and from Monday, 12 April to Sunday, 18 April, in Broadgate the unit will be kept in the War Memorial Park.

People are asked to phone in for a screening and to make sure that they are virus-free.

The unit now has seven community testing centres across the area, which also have collection services for home testing. People are encouraged to do testing twice a week, and this can be done by the mobile device.

It is accessible for individuals without any COVID-19 signs which helps to reassure people that they don’t bear the disease unwittingly and transmit it while they are working or while they are out of town.

One out of every three patients with coronavirus do not have any symptoms, and Coventry’s lateral flow tests have led since December to 1,090 positive cases – patients who have no experience with the virus.

Visitors will do a lateral flow test – where their own throat and nose swab. Typically the results are back in one hour.

“The lock-up is easier, because everyone is more involved, and can access additional sites, so routine testing is important. Liz Gaulton, Head of Public Health in the region.

“So, if you cannot work out at home, have children in kindergarten, or you know you are going to be public at home, please behave on the advice and take daily checks, protect your peers, your families, your working people and local community. And if you are vaccinated, you can also screen annually.

“To our city sites the mobile device is a big addition. We are aware that the park is populated at weekends, and that there will be more in the city centre from Monday when non-essential stores are reopened, and these two areas should be suitable for many.

“Why don’t take a minute to call to make sure they are virus-free to keep others safe while you enjoy a weekend stroll or when you work in or visit a shop? Check yourself – interrupt the propagation!”

You will take tests or lateral flow tests for take-up at each of the seven community testing centres in the city: the Transport Museum in the City Centre, the Indian Community Center in Foleshill. Moat House Leisure and Neighborhood Center in Wood End. Alan Higgs Center off Allard Way.

Anyone who tests positive for using side flow tests must have a PCR confirmed test in the Department of Health and Social Care, on one of the symptomatic test points.

An appointment is not necessary. The centres are open from 8 a.m. to 6.30 p.m., Monday – Friday; Saturday and Sunday: 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Anyone who tests positive for using side flow tests must have a PCR confirmed test in the Department of Health and Social Care, on one of the symptomatic test points.

Any small pharmacy in the city can also be visited. Please go to https:// maps.test-and-trace.nhs.uk for a list of sites where quick lateral flow checks can be collected for home use.

Even if you test negative, please remember to continue to follow all Government guidelines, including the wearing of face coverings and social distancing.

Anyone who has been told to self-isolate or is showing symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend a collection site. Those with any of the main COVID symptoms should call 119 or visit www.nhs.uk/coronavirus.
