FREE Bands in the Park are returning in Coventry!

July 26, 2021 By Coventry Talking Newspaper editor Leave a Comment

This summer, Coventry’s Bands in the Park programme returns, with live music taking place in a number of the city’s beautiful parks. These activities are part of the City of Culture’s “Summer of Surprises” event series.

The first will take place in Nauls Mill Park on Sunday, July 25th, and will include the popular Phoenix Rock ‘n’ Roll band.

This popular series of FREE small concerts is returning, with the same wide range of musical styles and bands as before, as well as a few new, lengthier events that provide additional musical fun.

If you’ve never attended a Bands in the Park event, it’s a pleasant, family-friendly musical experience held on Sunday afternoons in many of the city’s lovely parks from the end of July until the end of September. The times vary, but they are normally between 2 and 3.30 p.m. The goal is to amuse, make people smile, and maybe even enjoy a dance in beautiful surroundings, and it’s all for free!

“After last year’s events were sadly cancelled due to the pandemic, it’s lovely to be able to welcome back this much-loved series of mini concerts for people to get out in the fresh air and listen to some great music,” said Councillor Abdul Salam Khan, Coventry Cty Council’s Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Parks. I hope everyone has a great time at this fantastic series of free events and continues to visit all of our beautiful parks throughout the city.”

The events will be run in accordance with current government norms. Attendance is not recommended for anyone who has COVID symptoms, has had a positive test, or has received a Test and Trace notification to isolate.

After a few Bands in the Park activities, there will be a nighttime pop-up movie (ticketed event, details to come) to round out the day!

Parks, Poems, and Brass Bands, a BBC Contains Strong Language 2021 event with Olga Dermot-Bond and the City of Coventry Brass Band, is the final event at Coombe Abbey Park.
