Coventry Newspapers
Coventry Talking Newspaper is a voluntary organisation featuring articles, information and entrainment for the blind and visually impaired in the Coventry area. The weekly news section takes items from the Coventry Telegraph newspapers.
Coventry Telegraph Originally titled Coventry Evening Telegraph as the main edition arrived in newsagent outlets for the evening. Early editions of the paper did carry the Evening title. It dropped the Evening name when the paper sized down from an evening paper to a morning only paper. Only one edition per day remains. Many of the features and articles also appear in the Birmingham mail (Previously known as the Birmingham evening mail) and other mirror group owned publications. These local papers are owned by the Daily mirror group. The group also produced the Coventry citizen and Coventry Times newspapers. These were weekly newspapers but demised after the Coventry Observer came to print in the city. The Coventry paper was printed in Coventry and delivered by their own delivery teams. The Mirror group changed the printing process in 2006 to the Birmingham mail offices at the fort (off junction 5 of the M6) and deliver with the daily mirror morning delivery system via WH Smiths and Dawson suppliers. Its main offices were closed in 2014 and moved to small office in 2014 at the Coventry canal basin.

Coventry Radio Stations
Free Radio Coventry – Formally known as Mercia Sound, before changing to Mercia FM and changing again to Mercia before being dropped totally. After being brought by GWR radio in the 90’s, it was sold to Capital Radio a few years later who then sold it off to Birmingham broadcaster “orion media“. The station was snapped up by the Birmingham group headed by Phil Riley and now outputs all material from Birmingham Studios re-branded as Free Radio following closure of it’s Coventry studios. Touch FM – Broadcasting from studios near Kenilworth, Touch FM broadcasts to Coventry and most of Warwickshire. Originally called Kix 96, the Coventry output broadcasts local news and aims it market to Male adults. The station has moved to a number of studios in the city including a church just off the ring road. After gaining licenses to broadcast in Warwickshire Stratford and Banbury, it has settled in studios to a more central location near Kenilworth. Heart FM – National radio and TV station with a West Midlands output at breakfast, News and travel. While the station covers Coventry, the local output is mainly Birmingham based. Radio Plus – Community radio financed by donations and local churches and run by volunteers. The station can be heard on 101.5FM and online.
BBC Coventry and Warwickshire – The local BBC in Coventry broadcasting from the city centre. Insight radio – Whilst it’s not a local Coventry station, insight radio is a dedicated radio station for the blind and visually impaired. Run by RNIB, the station now has two services, normal and extra both available online and via the following streams:
